Former Inter President Ernesto Pellegrini spoke on the sidelines of the Sport, Movies & TV 2017 – 35th Milano International FICTS Festival on Inter.

“I really like Spalletti, he is a leader” he explained. “He is a man who knows how to deal with his men. I’m very happy as a fan.

“There is a certain resemblance with Giovanni Trapattoni, both of which are strong men who know how to penetrate the soul of man by understanding their values and defects: they are leaders, in this sense they resemble one another.”

Pellegrini, who owned Inter between 1984 and 1995, then spoke on the current owners of the Nerazzurri, the Suning Group.

“Football has changed because of globalisation. There are no more entrepreneurs who own the team of their heart and their city as it happened in my time or with Silvio Berlusconi. Now it is a different world. Regardless of ownership, for me the Nerazzurri colours are not able to be forgotten.”

Pellegrini concluded by sharing what he believes Inter’s goals should be for the season.

“Champions League qualification but I think they can have higher ambitions the could win the title. They are led by a great coach and the players are serious.”
