Gabigol’s Days On Loan At Benfica From Inter Seem Numbered

New year, same old issues for Gabriel “Gabigol” Barbosa. The Brazilian forward who’s currently on loan to Benfica from Inter is having a difficult moment trying to find space in the first team and more so, in the team’s latest victory against Guimaraes, Gabigol was not even on the bench for the match. According to FcInterNews, his days at Benfica seem to be numbered.

If Gabriel Barbosa is set to leave Benfica, his agent must work hard to find him a solution to get the player consistent playing time. A return to Inter at this point seems impossible. A rumored move to PSV Eindhoven has gotten cold on the rumor mill and in terms of the rumblings about a destination to Genoa, it seems that Gabigol isn’t in love with the idea of playing in a club that is fighting to avoid relegation.

Another potential destination for Gabigol is returning to his former club Santos in Brazil for which the club has made it very well know that they would take him back with open arms. The main hurdle here for Inter is that the player’s wages would be significantly cut to go back to Brazil and once the season is concluded a return is inevitable for the 2018/2019 season and by returning back to Brazil to only go to Italy in a six month span, Inter will need to reserve a non-EU spot for him.

Inter would hope he can show his value at Benfica but with Gabigol not playing this makes it difficult for all parties involved.
