On the day of his 75th Birthday, Nerazzurri legend Sandro Mazzola gave an interview to Italian media outlet TMW Radio during their live show “Due in Fuorigioco” where he spoke about a wide range of topics from his experience when playing for Inter to his opinion on Luciano Spalletti’s team.

What is the greatest moment of your career?

“The first final of the European Cup against Real Madrid. They were always finalists, when I was young I would watch them on TV below my home because there was Alfredo Di Stefano, my idol, I followed him, always.”

Every once in a while, do you feel the nostalgia of watching that match?

“I don’t love going back to the past. When you realize that time flies it unfortunately gets to you. Ever so often at night I begin dreaming that I can still play.”

In what player do you see yourself in?

“It’s tough to say, football has changed a lot. In every aspect, from tactics to preparation.”

Why didn’t you become a coach?

“I took the course. Inter was in a tough moment, there were struggles between the management and that is why I choose to work in a role within the club as a manager to make things go smoothly within the club.”

Are Inter prepared to arrive at the top?

“For me yes. They’re working very hard and Spalletti has gotten inside the head of the players. I believe they have the base to take strides this year.”

Who is your current favorite Inter player?

“Perisic above all. Icardi is a true striker, similar to Boninsegna and Riva. Players that score goals in every other ball touched. I also like Candreva very much.”
