The game with Atalanta in 10 days time could prove decisive for Joao Mario’s future at Inter according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The midfielder has made it clear that he wishes to play more in recent days and there are currently rumours circulating which suggest he could be involved in a swap deal with Paris Saint Germain’s Javier Pastore in the January mercato.

The 24-year-old arrived in a €45 million deal from Sporting Lisbon to much fanfare but has ultimately failed to live up to expectations despite showing glimpses of what he can do from time to time. The Nerazzurri management do not wish to part ways with the Portuguese international due to their huge outlay but want him to give more concrete signals of his ability when given a chance. Due to his big fee, it is difficult for Inter to sell him as they are guaranteed to make a loss and they will not want to make a substantial one.

Joao Mario has made nine appearance this term but only three of them are starts. In his nine appearances he has provided four assists for teammates.
