The head coach of the Argentinian national team, Jorge Sampaoli, shared his thoughts about the absence of Inter captain Mauro Icardi from the national team following the injury Icardi sustained during this past Sunday’s 1-1 draw against Torino in the Nerazzurri’s Serie A fixture at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milano’s San Siro district.

When asked about the Nerazzurri captain the former Sevilla manager Sampaoli stated that “Icardi is not here because he is not in the most ideal physical condition. If Inter’s medical staff made the judgement that he has an inflammation in his knee, why should I doubt them? The player understands what we are playing for and if he is not here it is simply because of his physical condition. Undoubtedly these matches are important, so why would any Argentinian player not want to be here?  Again, I wish to reiterate that I believe what Inter’s medical team has stated.”
