Speaking to Premium Sport, former Inter player and Sporting Director, Sandro Mazzola, reminisced about some stories of his past at Inter. From the great Helenio Herrera to the “prophecy” of Real Madrid’s Hungarian striker Ferenc Puskas who told him once that “you are worthy of your father”, La Grande Torino captain Valentino Mazzola who tragically passed away in the Superga disaster.
The Inter legend then went on to speak about his time as a Sporting Director at the club speaking about the great signing of Brazilian FIFA World Cup winner, Ronaldo, as well as revealing one particular player that got away: “the signing of Ronaldo was terrific, apart from the injuries of course. There was also an opportunity to sign Michel Platini, I was one of the first people to notice him.”
Mazzola, who turned 75 years old yesterday, finished on today’s Inter concluding that: “I like Luciano Spalletti’s Inter for their mentality & style of play.”
