FCInterNews managed to speak to Gianfelice Facchetti, son of Inter legend Giacinto Facchetti, at the naming ceremony of the Axum Square Garden Helenio Herrera. He said that this was “an important day for the city of Milan and Inter. It’s nice that the city where this team has been a protagonist since 1908 should have this memorial to remember il Mago”

Gianfelice went on to talk about some memories of his father and the stories he used to tell of Herrera: “You can’t condense the whole Grande Inter side into a simple answer. The main one is the meeting of my father & Herrera. He saw him as a young man and forged him. My father married into his teachings and became the man he was thanks largely to Il Mago. This was a meeting that brought many great things to him and Inter.”

The ceremony was marred somewhat by a small presence of protesters. Facchetti gave his reaction saying “when you talk about history it is always difficult for everyone to agree. When it comes to football it’s twice as hard. There’s nothing more to say.”
