The Nerazzurri only have one non-EU spot available but that looks set to be filled by Ramires. The Brazilian midfielder is expected to join Inter on loan for the remainder of the season from their Chinese cousins Jiangsu Suning.
Inter are prepared to spend €6 million on Chilean international Diaz and could well find an agreement with the players club San Lorenzo that would see the 23-year-old remain in Argentina until the summer when Inter would then have 2 free non-EU spots.
Diaz is under contract with San Lorenzo through to 2019 and has also attracted interest from several other clubs. This season, the centre back, who can also play at full back and in defensive midfield has made seven appearances in all competitions and got two assists in that time.
