It was a battle of the minds for the first 45 minutes between Luciano Spalletti and Gian Piero Gasperini with both tacticians completely cancelling each other out where Atalanta locked Inter. It all changed in the second half thanks to Inter’s Captain Fatastic, Mauro Icardi who decided the match via a brace in the space of 9 minutes.
There are soon no more adjectives left to describe Mauro Icardi. After a frustrating 45 minutes when he missed 1 on 1 with Berisha in Atalanta’s goal the Inter captain started the second half by heading a cross straight into said goalkeeper’s arms. A normal player would have maybe started to mope, but Mauro Icardi is not a normal player. Two crosses in the space of 9 minutes, one from Antonio Candreva and one from Danilo D’Ambrosio were both headed home by Icardi and that was that. 13 goals in 13 matches, 3 points in the bag, thank you and goodnight.
Inter are in second place in the Serie A league table, 2 points off of leaders Napoli after 13 matches and are still unbeaten this season. Phenomenal does not even begin to describe it.
