Journalist Mario Sconcerti, spoke on TMW Radio, mostly discussing Inter captain Mauro Icardi and the Argentine’s €110 million release clause.

“When there is a release clause, the contract means almost nothing, apart from having to pay the monthly wages. When you have a clause and someone decides to pay it, Inter can only keep faith in the will of the player. If Inter want to keep Icardi, taking into consideration he makes up 80% of this team on his own, then I would immediately renew the contract and would take the release clause out. With a player like Icardi, there is no point in a release clause if he can see himself staying at the club for an easy 4-5 additional years. It does not benefit anyone, if I were Inter, I would take it out and increase his wages.”

With increasing rumours from Spain about Icardi potentially leaving Inter for Real Madrid, a contract renewal for the Inter skipper would bring Nerazzurri fans great comfort in the loyalty of their top goal scorer.
