Simone Pepe spoke on the race for the scudetto this season, focusing on former side Juventus and their rivals Inter ahead of this weekend’s Derby D’Italia.

“I would say that the race for the scudetto is a fight between four side. Juve is still the favourite but Inter are doing well right now. They have an excellent coach and have a team that are playing their best.”

The 34-year-old, who last played for Pescara before retiring in the summer, then spoke on Gonzalo Higuain and Mauro Icardi.

“They are two phenomenal strikers. Higuain has better movement and helps his team more whereas Icardi is deadly in the penalty area.”

He concluded the interview by suggesting who teams should look to sign from the current crop of youngsters in Serie A.

“Bryan Cristante. He is doing great things at Atalanta and I know him well having played with him at Pescara last year. He is physical, has good technique and a good personality.”
