Soon to be sworn in Santos President Jose Carlos Peres spoke to UOL Esporte on his relationship with Inter’s Gabriel Barbosa amid rumours of the 21-year-old forward returning back to the club.
“I signed him for Santos when he was ten years old, he was at my house, he was going to Sao Paulo but when I asked him if he would like to play in Santos he replied he was a fan and showed me photos of him in the shirt. He was worried that he would have to take the bus to go to Cotia every day, there was too much to do, so I thought I’d have to take him to Santos myself.”
“A good relationship helps in negotiations, but first we must understand the values. After having spoken with the sporting director, then we will see what to do.”
Speaking futher on the potential move Peres added, “We will not go mad, we do not want to offer very high salaries. We are talking to four other players, today we could even close something.”
