Bergomi: “Nagatomo’s Importance To Inter Is Underestimated”

Inter legend Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Bergomi has heaped praise on current Inter full back Yuto Nagatomo in an interview with Sky Sports.

“The importance of Nagatomo is underestimated, the Japanese interprets the game in a different way from Davide Santon who arrives at the wrong times.”

Bergomi then discussed one of the main reasons why Nagatomo is so important.

“Natatomo gives a different energy than Santon and allows Ivan Perisic to express himself differently.”

Nagatomo is one of a number of players whose Inter career has enjoyed a resurgence under Inter manager Luciano Spalletti this season. The Japanese international, who is one of the longest serving players from the current crop, has made over 200 appearances in Nerazzurri since arriving from Cesena. The 31-year-old is under contract with the Nerazzurri until the summer of 2019 and has made 11 appearances this season and scored the decisive penalty in last week’s penalty shootout in the Coppa Italia match against Pordenone.
