Inter Go Head To Head With AC Milan For Lazio’s De Vrij

Stefan De Vrij, the Lazio defender could become a very chased man in the upcoming transfer window. The Dutchman’s current contract will expire at the end of June 2018 and he is yet to sign an extension with Lazio.

Inter have been a long time admirer of the player, though Walter Sabatini and Piero Ausilio prefer Atletico Madrid’s José Gimenez but landing him may proved to be a big obstacle considering the financial situation whilst Bayern star Jerome Boateng is also on the list but the Bavarians aren’t willing to sell their superstar.

The situation of De Vrij is less complicated compared to them. The player will soon be a free agent so getting him won’t be a huge financial challenge but Inter will face competition for him from Atletico Madrid and Manchester United who have also expressed an interest in him. FcInterNews reports that Nerazzurri may have to splash 20-22 million to get him in January though Lazio may want upto 40 million for him. Lazio President Claudio Lotito may also have a meeting soon for the player with his agent.

In this situation, should Lazio demand  20-25 million upfront then it will be difficult for Inter or any other Italian club to sign him. In that case foreign clubs will have the upper-hand but if the Dutch international decides to stay then both the Milanese club can sign him. Inter have already offered more than  3 million net per season whereas Milan have a 4 million contract offer on the table.
