Inter Are ‘In Crisis Mode’

“The Crisis is open!” According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter are now in crisis mode having suffered three consecutive defeats at the hands of Udinese, Sassuolo and AC Milan.

The newspaper has delved into the four reasons why the Nerazzurri are enduring such a drastic change in fortunes after surviving their opening 16 games of the season unbeaten:

  1. There has been an obvious physical and mental decline. Some players seemed resigned to defeat in the Coppa Italia derby, as if failure was to be accepted as the norm given the trend of recent years.
  2. Indeed, both Mauro Icardi and Ivan Perišić’s individual performance levels have dropped significantly, which has resulted in a completely impotent attack.
  3. The squad is severely lacking depth. There are very few credible alternatives for the starting XI, which must be a real cause for concern. Compared to Juventus and Napoli, the substitutes bench is weak.
  4. Tactics. The team’s desperation to constantly play in wide areas leaves Icardi isolated, which is one of the reasons why it is so difficult to score. Luciano Spalletti is not ruling out a change of formation.
