Luciano Spalletti Says Fans Reaction After Milan Defeat “Makes Me Love Inter More”

Inter coach Luciano Spalletti held a press conference earlier today ahead of tomorrow’s Serie A clash at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milano’s San Siro district against Lazio with kick-off scheduled for 18.00 CET.

The Nerazzurri coach began by stressing the importance of the upcoming match as well as stating how proud he is of the team and what they have accomplished so far: “The team has done exceptional things and because of this we can find a solution by ourselves. It’s in moments like these that you’re able to see your individual qualities. We need to have in mind who we are and where we’ve come from. We’ve done good work on this journey and the stats support what this. The players have shown that they know how to win matches but we need to set obvious examples. We need to succumb to what we are, which is a strong team. In the matches we lost, I didn’t see a team that was in a mess. I know that it’s happened before in the past but I know only about the present. It’s clear that things have to be worked on in the right manner. Nobody has given us anything for free and if we’re in this position, it’s down to what we’ve done. The foundations are there to be taken seriously.”

Spalletti continued by praising the fans who will almost fill up the stadium again following three consecutive defeats with the last one coming against Milan, declaring that “again tomorrow there will be 60,000 fans at the San Siro. When we were winning I felt increasingly like an Interista. Now, after seeing this response following a defeat, I’m totally in love with Inter.”

When asked why Inter have suddenly reversed from being a winning machine to a team that has drawn 2 and lost 3 of their 5 latest matches, he explained: “there are always difficult moments in football, what is if I can see whether this is a coincidence or something else. I can see all the players are demoralised by what’s happened. At this moment, you need to be with them and show them who they really are. They’re strong players at a strong team and they are here based on merit. Nothing has happened by chance, it was all set out. Those who wear this shirt need to know how to react and not shy away from things.”
