Antonio Candreva: “I Didn’t Spit At Anyone”

Antonio Candreva spoke to Inter TV after Inter’s 0-0 draw at home to Lazio in Serie A. The winger had a difficult game not being able to be decisive and was eventually substituted by manager Luciano Spalletti. After a good spell in recent months Candreva has struggled of late and the fans were on his back again today.

The former Lazio player was reported to be involved in what seemed to be an altercation with a fan during the game where he appeared to spit at and then swear at a supporter in the crowd, a claim that he strongly denied stating that: “Some things have come out and I feel it is absurd that I should even have to come here and have to explain myself. To say that I spat at a fan is wrong. On the football pitch players spit all the time. I swore because I didn’t manage to get on the end of a long ball. That’s all. I felt it was right for me to clear things up and Forza Inter forever.”
