Fiorentina’s Argentine forward Giovanni Simeone spoke ahead of his sides Serie A clash with Inter this weekend. In an interview with Premium Sport the former Genoa striker spoke about his season so far: “I want to carry as I have been doing. I have to learn that scoring is not the only thing I ca do to help the team. I have manged to get four assists and I know I can do more to help my team mates to score. Compared to the first game of the season against Inter I have improved a lot. I have become a part of this group and I hope to keep improving everyday.”
This weekend sees the start of the second half of the Serie A season which sees the team face off in the reverse matches that kicked off the season back in August. Inter ran out comfortable 3-0 winners on the opening day of the season but they come into this game without a win in their last four games in Serie A and only one goal scored. Simeone was quick to dismiss that Inter are a team in trouble saying: “I don’t think they are a team in difficulty at the moment. They are a strong side and have a great striker in Mauro Icardi. A team like Inter cannot be underestimated. We need to show them respect, they are riding high in the league and will come here to Florence to take all three points. But we are ready to face this game and go out there to win. On a personal level a goal against Inter is all that I missing. I have scored against all the other big teams already…”
The young Argentine finally spoke about his father, Atletico Madrid manager, Diego Simeone. The former Lazio & Atletico Madrid midfielder spent two years at Inter during his playing career and has never been shy about declaring his love for the colours he once wore. Giovanni Simeone was asked about the potential of his father managing Inter in the future: “I think it will happen one day. At the moment he is happy at Atletico Madrid but one day I’m sure it will happen.”
