Corriere dello Sport pulled no punches in their assessment of last night’s 1-1 draw against Fiorentina at the Stadio Artemio Franchi, as Inter failed to end their negative streak of results:
“Yesterday, we saw a real team on one side and only one bomber on the other. Fiorentina vs. Icardi finished 1-1. If Fiorentina’s accuracy in front of goal was equal to the quality of their general play and movement, Inter would have left the Franchi embarrassed and ashamed. That is despite the fact they possess a phenomenal striker who once again was able to transform his only chance into a goal.
Fiorentina will emerge from this match much stronger. They put Inter under pressure from the first minute to the last and missed half a dozen good chances. Indeed, they finished with no less than 23 shots and eventually equalised through a brilliant strike by Giovanni Simeone. Meanwhile, the Nerazzurri were unable to emerge from the darkness and remain winless since December 3rd.”
