Ahead of tomorrow night’s Milan derby, Milan manager Gennaro Gattuso addressed the media today at Milanello, firstly discussing Inter.
“Inter have changed in the past two-three weeks, they have scored 10 goals and conceded none. They are in really good shape but so are we because against Juventus we played a really good game. There’s a lot at stake in this derby and I hope to play the same quality game we had against Juventus.”
Gattuso, who spent 13 years with Milan as a player, then spoke on the importance of the derby.
“The derby isn’t always won by the best team. We have to do things like we are used to, they have been playing really well in the past 3-4 games we have to careful not to give them too much space tomorrow. We have to play a really good game from a technical, tactical and defensive standpoint. It’s like a final for us and we have been playing several finals lately. We can’t make any false step if we want to still believe we can qualify for a Champions League spot.”
Gattuso then spoke on certain individuals in his squad.
“Bonucci as a play-maker? We can’t afford any experiment at this time. Jack Bonaventura is a very important player for us he probably isn’t doing great defensively but I have great confidence in him. André Silva played a really good game [against Juventus], I think he could have done better with that header but he played well. He’s in good condition. I want Cutrone to improve his technique, he knows it and is working on it. He has lots of passion and is eager to do better.”
