West Ham United manager David Moyes was asked about Joao Mario’s future with the Premier League club following his first goal at the weekend.

“I would not want to even comment on that now, because I will not make any decisions or even look at it yet. I will take my time, see what we have got, and see where we are going to go with him,” the Scotsman told The Times.

Moyes also lauded the impact that the Portuguese midfielder has had at the Hammers since his January arrival from Inter.

“I think Joao Mario has done well since he came in. You hope the environment helped him settle. Again, it’s not an easy thing to come into the Premier League and do something, but he’s played quite a few games and that’s helped him as well. It’s not an easy situation for him, but he’s experienced, he’s a Portuguese international and he was at Inter for a reason and that’s because he is a good player.

“He brings a little bit of flair, he’s good on the ball, and has a bit of natural talent. What goes unnoticed is that he’s actually a really hard-working boy as well.”
