Antonio Candreva spoke to Rai Sport after the draw in the Derby of Milan last night: “We deserved to win 3-0, it remains a regret to have not brought home all three points”.
The winger then went on to explain what this result meant for the Champions League fight: “The Champions League race will be tough, we’ve always known, but we’re there. It’s not only a race for us though because there are opportunities in front and threats from behind”.
Candreva is right to believe that Inter deserved to win by such a big margin, given all the opportunities that Mauro Icardi was given but could not finish, not to mention the two granted by Candreva himself (although one was disallowed). Shocking to see but it even happens to the best. Relying on Icardi is usually a safe bet but in games like that the Nerazzurri need someone else to step up, while Candreva continues the season without having scored even one goal so far.
