Pundit Mario Sconcerti reviewed last night’s Derby della Madonnina in an interview with Corriere della Sera.

“Inter have given me the impression that they have grown. They have found a way to play and now wants all the content. Milan is a good team, even with more rational lines of Inter, just a little ‘school, from fifth day in the classroom.

“In short, it was a promising derby and was better than many of the recent derbies. They are two teams almost ready [for a scudetto fight], perhaps for the first time in a long time. Personally, and without exaggeration, I had not seen so many little signs of optimism for a long time.”

Sconcerti proceeded to discuss some of the individuals who had an off day, namely Inter’s Mauro Icardi and Milan Jack Bonaventura and Hakan Calhanoglu.

“It went very wrong for Icardi, but also Bonaventura and even Calhanoglu. It was one of these games that these players can decide.”

Sconcerti then went on to praise Inter full back Joao Cancelo who put in another solid performance as well as Marcelo Brozovic.

“Cancelo is carrying a heavy weight upon his shoulders and is now almost complete at the defensive level. He is a fundamental part in the construction of the future because he covers the true diversity of a team.

“Brozovic continues to grow in his new role. It is as if he has fallen in love with the importance of the new role he has.”
