According to reports from British broadsheet The Times, Premier League outfit West Ham have as of yet expressed no intension of activating the redemption clause in Joao Mario’s loan contract from Inter despite the Portuguese international having had a good run of form since joining the club during the January transfer window.
According to the report, The Hammers consider the pricetag too steep but are yet to make a final decision regarding Joao Mario. The former Sporting Lisbon player joined Inter ahead of the 2016/17 season for a record transfer fee of €40 million, a price tag which he has failed to live up to for the past two season’s.
Therefore, the Portuguese midfielder joined English side West Ham on loan this January, in an attempt to revive his career. The Times suggests that unless Inter lower their demand the player will return back to Inter where he is deemed surplus to requirements.
