66% of Inter’s goals this season have been scored by either Mauro Icardi or Ivan Perišić. Former Nerazzurri striker Alessandro Altobelli discussed the reasons why this might be the case during an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport. Here is what he had to say:

“It’s only natural that if you play with this system, getting the ball out wide and hitting crosses into the box, then most of the goals will be scored by the striker or the winger on the opposite flank. That said, I am surprised by how few goals Candreva has scored.

“Considering how many chances he has had, Icardi has scored too many. You cannot criticise Mauro. He is always there, but of course he can miss chances as he did in the derby. Spalletti is right to keep him in the penalty area which is where he is at his most dangerous. He scores with crazy regularity and gives everything for the team even when he does not score. He is among the top five in the world.

“The players looked fit against Torino, both mentally and physically. They know themselves that not qualifying for the Champions League would be failure, which is why they must give something extra from now until the end of the season.”
