Inter captain Mauro Icardi stopped by Inter TV to analyze the win against Chievo where he scored his 26th goal in the Serie A in 29 appearances.
The Nerazzurri skipper was asked about his goal stating that: “From this season with the introduction of the VAR you need to score and then you will see. There was a time when you had to stop playing otherwise you would get booked. It was a match where we faced some danger in the first half but in the second half we came on to the pitch with the will to score and we managed to do so twice. It is a shame regarding the last 15 minutes because after Ivan’s goal we gave up a little bit and this penalized us.”
Icardi was asked about the support he receives from the fans stating that: “They always show me their affection and this is important for a player. Now we have to have a great end to the season, play the last 4 matches in the best way possible because Lazio and Roma don’t give up and we will see in what position we are in when we play the Biancocelesti in the last game. The goals are important for the team to win, it is not important if I am behind Immobile in the goalscoring chart. When we didn’t win there was a period where we were down, this hurt us a lot because today we could look at a completely different league table and we are aware of this, which is why we have to give a great end to the season.”
In conclusion Icardi was asked about the fact that he has scored the highest number of goals in one Serie A season for Inter since 1956 stating that: “This makes me happy, but if I score and it does not mean anything it does not make me happy. I hope to be able to continue to score for the good of the team. Now we play Juventus, it will be fundamental to win until the end of the season, we will play for ut until the end.”
