Inter’s Sporting Director Piero Ausilio stopped by Premium Sport for his now traditional pre-match interview moments before kick-off at the Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi when the Nerazzurri face off with Chievo Verona.
Ausilio was asked if in order to follow UEFA’s Financial Fair Play rules, Inter are forced to sell one of the club’s big name players and if there was a plan B in such an event to which he replied: “There is also a plan C and a plan D. The recent meetings with UEFA where regarding this season and not the transfer window starting in July. I wait for them to tell me the numbers, what UEFA is asking of us now and how we conclude the fiscal year in a certain way, but I don’t think that Inter have to sell a big name player at the end of the season, by June. I say this based on my experience gathered through the years, I almost have a Ph D in the Finiancial Fair Play rules now. In the past we resolved this with players who were not in our plans like Banega and Caprari.”
Ausilio was the asked about the visit from Asamoah’s agent Pastorello to which he replied: “The meeting was about other things, we spoke about Candreva and Nagatomo. This is the truth. We are satisfied with both Rafinha and Cancelo, we knew that they needed time. We have seen Dalbert less due to the merit of those who are ahead of him but I think that he is one of those who is wanted on the transfer market because in England and Germany they know his qualities.”
In conclusion Ausilio was asked how big of a chance it is that Joao Cancelo stays to which he said: “I wont give any percentages but he has a contract with us that stretches over four years after this one. If we will manage to sign him the contract is already there.”
