Saturday’s Derby d’Italia will see Inter surpass the one million mark for attendances at San Siro this season, Tuttosport write.
The Nerazzurri have amassed an overall attendance figure of 947,849 during their first 17 home league matches of the campaign, with an average capacity of 55,756 per game (comfortably the highest average in Serie A), while this weekend’s clash with Juventus is expected to be watched by approximately 74,000 people.
If the expectations were met it would mean more than one million supporters have come to watch Luciano Spalletti’s side this year, and there would still be one match left in which to further increase the figure (against Sassuolo).
Whatever the attendance on Saturday Inter are already guaranteed their highest average attendance across an entire season since the 2010-11 campaign, when 1,134,239 people came through the gates for an average of 59,697 per game.
The seasons that have followed since have all fallen significantly short of such figures: 851,323 in 2011-12 (44,806 per game), 884,462 in 2012-13 (46,551), 874,666 in 2013-14 (42,246), 708,131 in 2014-15 (37,270), 856,226 in 2015-16 (45,538) and 885,818 in 2016-17 (46,222).
