Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio is to meet with Barcelona on May 20 to discuss other formulas to possibly allow Rafinha to remain at Inter past the end of this season according to Tuttosport.

The Brazilian midfielder joined the Nerazzurri in January on an initial six month loan deal with a €35 million redemption option inserted in the contract. However, due to ongoing financial fair play issues, it will be nigh on impossible for Inter to complete the deal without a major sale.

Rafinha has appeared 14 times for Inter since arriving and added another dimension to Inter’s attack. The 25-year-old has not long returned from a long term injury which means he often needs subbed early on for the sake of preserving him but with a full pre-season under his belt, a fully fit Rafinha would be an absolutely huge asset to Inter.

Inter may manage to strike a deal that sees the loan simply extended for a further season or the price to redeem him may be dropped but it may come at a cost of giving the Spanish giants first option on some of the Inter stars like Mauro Icardi and or Milan Skriniar.
