Sassuolo are facing an emergency in defence as they prepare to face Inter on Saturday evening, according to Gazzetta.it.

The Neroverdi officially secured their Serie A status for next season by defeating Sampdoria last weekend and have nothing to play for in their remaining two fixtures, which will see them play Luciano Spalletti’s side away from home before hosting Roma on the final weekend of the campaign.

Their last visit to the San Siro ended positively for them as they held Milan to a 1-1 draw on 8 April, but head coach Beppe Iachini will have his work cut out to secure a similar result this weekend as he risks having very few players available at the back.

Federico Peluso is guaranteed to miss Saturday’s match through suspension while Cristian Dell’Orco and Rogerio are both facing a race against time in order to be fit, with Sassuolo’s three-man defence expected to be assembled by Francesco Acerbi, Mauricio Lemos and Timo Letschert.

Matteo Politano and Domenico Berardi are expected to start up front in Iachini’s 5-3-2 system, although Khouma Babacar is also in contention for a place.
