Inter’s defensive wall Milan Skriniar has downplayed the circulating transfer talk involving his name and reaffirmed his desire to remain with the Nerazzurri despite the rumours.

“I do not worry about transfer rumours,” he told ProFutbol.sk in his homeland of Slovakia.

“The objective was to reach the Champions League with Inter. I am happy in Milan, I have never played for a move away from Italy, we have never discussed my future. Milan will stay in Milan, we want to have an excellent Champions League and finish higher up in the league next season.”

The 23-year-old central defender arrived from fellow Serie A outfit Sampdoria last summer with many questioning Inter’s level of investment in him. However, any fears were quickly thrown out of the water as Skriniar hit the ground running and continually performed to a high level over the course of the season much to everyone’s surprise. All in all, Skriniar made 40 appearances in all competitions and played a key role in Inter keeping 17 clean sheets in the league last season.
