Milan Skriniar has spoken of his joy at Inter’s qualification for the Champions League and says he cannot wait to get started with the Nerazzurri next season.

Next season will see Luciano Spalletti’s side compete in Europe’s top club competition for the first time since the 2011-12 campaign, following a dramatic final day on which they snatched a top four finish away from Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico.

Skriniar has immediately established himself as one of Inter’s key players after signing from Sampdoria last summer and has attracted the attention of several top European clubs, but the Slovakian has made it clear on several occasions that he wants to stay in Milan.

Speaking whilst on duty with the Slovakian national team, the centre-back reiterated his excitement for the campaign ahead.

“This season has been very positive, both for myself and for the team,” he told reporters on Monday. “We were fighting to return to the Champions League following a seven-year absence.

“[Qualifying for the Champions League] is a great thing for all the Interisti, both the fans and the players. We fought hard to secure our qualification in the final game, it was an incredible feeling [to win it] and I cannot wait to start the following season.”
