Palmeiras have set their sights high for the upcoming summer transfer window and are targeting Inter defender Joao Miranda according to a report from Brazilian news outlet Yahoo Esportes.

The veteran centre back still has a year left on his contract with the Nerazzurri but has not hidden his desire to return and play in his homeland before the end of his career.

Miranda, who joined Inter from Atletico Madrid back in 2016 in a €15 million deal, is viewed as their number one target for the defence and they could make a move for him after the World Cup concludes in mid-July.

The Brazilian defender, 34, was a rock at the back for Inter last season alongside Milan Skriniar and played a crucial part in Inter keeping one of the best defensive records across Serie A.

Aside from Miranda, the Brazilian giants are also looking to sign Jonas from Benfica, who, like Miranda, has just a year left on his current contract.
