Icardi’s Other Stats Set Him Apart From Fellow Capocannoniere Immobile

Both Mauro Icardi and Ciro Immobile scored 29 goals this season, meaning they share the Capocannoniere award. The Argentine and Italian are two very different strikers in the way that they play but both methods have resulted in an equal goal tally. Despite this, statistics from WhoScored.com are able to separate the two by comparing their goals scored to shots taken ratio, of which it is Icardi who has the better.

Icardi scores with every 3.48 shots he takes. Immobile, on the other hand, has a slighter higher average (being worse) of 3.79 shots before scoring.

This is Icardi’s second Capocannoniere award, followed by the one he also had to share with Luca Toni in 2015/16. The Nerazzurri captain must be hoping he’s able to take the glory all for himself next season, which may prove more challenging when fatigue starts to set in as he tries to fulfil his Champions League dream as well.
