Inter are among a handful of clubs interested in signing Marseille defender Hiroki Sakai according to a report published by British newspaper the Evening Standard.

Despite only signing a new contract back in October (worth 50,000 a week), that ties him to the French club until the end of the 2020/21 season, they are understood to be willing to sell him on if the right offer is to arrive with the Evening Standard reporting he is valued at €12 million by the club’s hierarchy.

The Nerazzurri are joined by fellow Italian clubs Milan and Napoli in being interested in the 28-year-old as well as Premier League club Crystal Palace and Spanish outfit Sevilla. Sakai is further understood to prefer a move to England which will no doubt come as a boost to Crystal Palace and their hopes of signing him.

The Japanese international full back, who has also played in Germany with Hannover, made a total of 50 appearances across all competitions last season for Marseille, which included appearing in the 3-0 Europa League final defeat to Atletico Madrid.
