Walter Sabatini made an unsuccessful attempt to sign Malcom last year during his time at the Inter Corriere dello Sport have revealed.
Upon going after him, Sabatini found out that he would have to deal with a Brazilian investment company linked to the player’s agent and this put him off the 21-year-old who is currently at the centre of talks between Inter and Bordeaux.
The Brazilian winger is valued at €50 million by Les Girondins but Inter are offering a deferred €40 million. Deferred in the sense that no deal will be officially completed and announced prior to July 1 so to not affect Inter’s precarious financial fair play situation that means they have to raise a substantial amount in order to break even in order to comply with the settlement agreement reached with UEFA.
Last season, Malcom, who has attracted interest from a number of other top European clubs, made 38 appearances across all competitions, scoring 12 and assisting eight.
