Out of favour Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian has opened the door to a potential return to Italy during this transfer window.

“United is a top club and it is normal to want to be a player who starts. I have a year left on my contract and we have not talked about a renewal but my agent knows what I want,” he revealed to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The former Torino man has drawn interest from several Serie A clubs but he refused to show any preference when questioned on the interest.

“Inter, Napoli and others interested? It is not for me to say. I would make the move that is best for me and therefore the doors are open.”

Darmian, 28, made just 17 appearances in total for the Red Devils last season and given the right offer arrived, it is unlikely that the Old Trafford are likely to put up much resistance and would more than likely let him leave.
