Corriere dello Sport have noted the change in Inter’s transfer market dealings in recent years wherein the Nerazzurri are more often than not preferring to do their shopping within Italy instead of outside it.
During Massimo Moratti’s 18-year presidency, many a signing arrived from outwith the Italian peninsula but since Erick Thohir took control and then Suning bought the club off the Indonesian, incoming transfers have more often than not come from fellow Italian clubs.
This mercato has already seen the Nerazzurri sign Radja Nainggolan and Matteo Politano from Roma and Sassuolo respectively while incoming free transfers Stefan de Vrij and Kwadwo Asamoah both recently left Italian clubs in Lazio and Juventus.
It is obvious that Inter, by signing players from Serie A, are hoping to negate any risk of a player not being able to adapt to the league, a la Gabriel Barbosa, who arrived from Santos in a €30 million deal and completely failed to live up to expectations.
