Nico Gonzalez is set to undergo a medical with Bundesliga club Stuttgart today according to a report from German news outlet BILD.
The Argentine youngster landed in Stuttgart yesterday ahead of an €8.5 million transfer from Argentinos Juniors and it would appear to spell the end to Inter’s hopes of signing him.
In recent months the 20-year-old has drawn interest from the Nerazzurri who planned to work in unison with Cagliari to complete the signing of the striker. It was planned that Gonzalez would be loaned to Cagliari for a season or two to acclimatise with Italian football and learn the culture before moving back to Inter where he would then have hopefully been first team ready.
The deal to bring Gonzalez, something that had been in the pipeline for a while, to Inter would appear to have suffered due to Inter having other priorities in the transfer market, particularly signing a right back and another central midfielder.
