Reports from Portugal suggest that Sporting Lisbon are to pocket some €25 million from the sale of William Carvalho to Spanish club Real Betis that could be closed by the end of the week.
The Portuguese international midfielder had been a target for Inter, who viewed him as an alternative to Mousa Dembele while Monaco – whose manager Leonardo Jardim has previously worked with the 26-year-old – have also recently sparked an interest and could come in with a bid at the eleventh hour for him, Diario de Noticias detail.
€25 million is a huge difference to the zero Sporting feared they may have ended up with for the central midfielder, who alongside a number of teammates has recently threatened to rip up his contract with the club following an incident at the club’s training ground that saw both players and staff attacked by members of the ultra groups who support the Portuguese giants.
