Another Primavera player leaves Inter: Axel Mohamed Bakayoko, the 20 year-old forward who after his loan in France with Sochaux will continue to gain experience. The new adventure will be with Swiss club St. Gallen.
This week the young Frenchman spoke to FcInterNews.it, after finishing his first training session in Switzerland.
Axel, what convinced you to accept St. Gallen’s offer?
“The presence of Peter Zeidler who coached me at Sochaux last year. Then, last week, I came here to visit the facilities and was impressed by the sports and training center.”
You’re leaving Inter on loan.
“Yes, I am. Let’s say that with the Nerazzurri club it’s just a goodbye for now. For me, it’s important to play with a degree of continuity to follow my path of technical and tactical growth.”
Do you keep in touch with the Nerazzurri world?
“Yes, I keep in touch with many ex-Primavera players: Zinho Vanheusden, Xian Emmers, Andrew Gravillon, Federico Valietti and of course Yann Karamoh, whom I got to know both at Inter and in the national team.”
Who is your role model? Is there a player you’re inspired by?
“I do not have a role model, but I follow Ivan Perisic closely at Inter. I also play as winger, and therefore I follow a lot of the Croatian’s actions to improve my performance.”
How did it go last year in France?
“It went well, considering it was my first professional season: I played a lot, but I could have played even more had I not been injured.”
What memories do you keep of your experience with Inter’s Primavera?
“I have many, but I like to remember winning the Scudetto, winning the Italian Cup and making my senior debut in the Europa League with Inter.”
