Inter, having heard of interest from Milan, have told Bernard’s representatives not to rush in to anything with their city rivals according to a report from Milan based publication Gazzetta dello Sport.
Both Milan clubs have shown a keen interest in the attacking midfielder in the past and a derby for his signature could be set to ensue.
The Brazilian, who is now a free agent following his decision to not renew with Ukrainian club Shakhtar Donestsk, has attracted widespread interest and Gazzetta understand that Chelsea are also seriously interested and are in fact the only club to have made a proper move for the 25-year-old.
In recent months reports suggested the Nerazzurri were looking to land him on a pre-contract agreement before his contract expired but that idea fell through as Inter turned their attention to other players but they have now seemingly reignited their interest in signing him.
