Radja Nainggolan could be forced in to postponing his competitive debut in an Inter shirt against Sassuolo in the Serie A opener in ten days time as he continues to struggle to recover from a thigh injury according to a report from Corriere dello Sport.

The Belgian midfielder, a new signing ahead of the coming season from fellow Italian side Roma, picked up the knock to his left thigh in Inter’s second friendly match against Swiss club Sion in mid-July and has not played in any of the four friendlies that have followed.

Inter are set to take on Atletico Madrid in their final pre-season encounter on Saturday and the 30-year-old will sit out from that also.

Next week he will undergo tests to see where he is in terms of fitness as he continues on a personalised training regime and manager Luciano Spalletti is already anxiously awaiting the results.
