Former Italian international striker Luca Toni has taken a look at some of the big transfers made by Italian clubs in view of the Serie A season kicking off this weekend.
“Cristiano Ronaldo is a huge transfer for Juventus and Ronaldo’s signing has led to other clubs making big moves in the transfer market too. Inter have done very well: Stefan de Vrij and Kwadwo Asamoah on a free transfer, then Radja Nainggolan and Keita Balde. Gonzalo Higuain will make Milan leap up also,” he said in an interview with Turin based Tuttosport.
Toni then spoke on who he believes will win the Capocannoniere, Serie A’s top goalscorer award, an award he won twice in the 2005/06 and 2014/15 seasons.
“Ronaldo, Higuain and Icardi are all capable of scoring 30 goals in the league. It will be a good fight: the first is a champion and the two Argentinians, well they are animals when in the penalty box. My Capocannoniere prediction? Pipita [Higuain] top scorer.”
