Italian media outlet GazzettaTV chief football journalist Carlo Laudisa commented on the statement made by the Spanish La Liga President Javier Tebas regarding Inter’s interest in Luka Modric:
Laudisa stated that Tebas “is a born polemicist, and in the La Liga he is famous because he has always protected the rights of small-to-medium-sized clubs to the detriment of the big ones, Barcelona in the first place, who accuse him of being pro-Real Madrid. Between Inter and PSG I do not see many similarities, because the French can be financed in a hidden way by a State, while Suning has an economic potential held back by the conditions of the Financial Fair Play and political ties at home.
“With all these conditions it becomes difficult to follow the words of Tebas, who in this flywheel of controversy includes Juventus for the operation Cristiano Ronaldo. But in Spain, with the departure of CR7 and the attempt for Modric, there is now a problem of visibility in favour of the Italians. Inter had the favour of the player and it is not completely ruled out that he could still move to Inter in the future but for now the situation needs to be clarified between Modric and Florentino Perez” Laudiasa continued.
In conclusion Laudisa stated that: “Inter were unlucky, because Perez’s promise to Modric came in late May, then the player left for the World Cup. If Croatia had not reached the final, the player would have had more time and less popularity and could have expressed his discomfort.”
