Following Inter being served with a notice from world football’s governing body FIFA after a complaint from Real Madrid, Milan based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport have given some details on the matter.

Inter were served with the notice on Tuesday 14th August where it was explained to them that Real Madrid had filed a complaint against them for allegedly approaching midfielder Luka Modric without their consent. Inter bosses were further told that FIFA were starting a preliminary investigation in to the matter and warned that legal action could be taken.

Inter replied to FIFA and aside from emphasising that there was inclusion of facts irrelevant to their courtship of Modric, they confirmed that they had not directly been in contact with the midfielder himself as alleged.

The report goes on to state that it is now up to FIFA to decide whether or not they wish to open a formal investigation up.
