Inter’s pursuit on Luka Modric is over. Proposed to Inter at the start of the summer a deal between the clubs was never allowed to take off due to Real Madrid president Florentino Perez completely blocking his exit Gazzetta dello Sport detail.

Perez went back on the gentleman’s agreement between himself and Modric which was to allow the Croatian to leave the club but he did not want to be held accountable for disappointing the Merengues fan base.

Despite Modric wanting to leave, the earlier departures of Cristiano Ronaldo and Zinedine Zidane had an adverse affect on Modric’s desire and had neither Ronaldo or Zidane or even just one of them had left, who knows how the whole Modric-Inter saga could have panned out.

The Croatian and his agents insisted in spite of being told he would not be allowed to leave and this has lead to Real Madrid considering taking legal action against Inter for the way in which they approached the player – even though it was Modric’s agents who approached Inter.
