Former referee Luca Marelli has revealed he would have not given Sassuolo the penalty they received in yesterday’s match with Inter but said he would have handed Inter the penalty they saw waved away.
“I would not have granted the penalty to Sassuolo, but the one on Asamoah was clear. Last year the referee would have consulted VAR but on this occasion he did not do it as this season the protocol was changed,” Marelli, who retired from refereeing in 2008, said in an interview with RMC Sport.
