Former Italian Inter defender Giovanni Bia shared his thoughts on the Nerazzurri’s dealings on the transfer market in an interview with Inter TV.

“It was a good transfer market, we are back to being an attractive league for foreigners. Too bad Inter could not sign Modric, that would have been the icing on the cake to make the league even more competitive.”

What is your opinion on Inter’s transfer window?

“Inter’s market has been extraordinary. Ausilio has done some great things, he brought in some very important players for Inter and now Spalletti has the task of trying to challenge for the Scudetto because now the team is at Napoli’s level and just slightly under that of Juve. Inter can also have some great matches in the Champions League.”

Which signing has impressed you the most?

“De Vrij, it was an amazing signing at no cost. There are no defenders of his quality in Italy for that price that Inter paid.”

Bia, how would you mark Lautaro Martinez on the pitch?

“Martinez is one of those difficult players to mark individually, I’d probably have to kick him every now and then [laughs].”

What kind of season do you expect?

“I expect something more from everyone, the overall level is rising and everyone will need to up their game and have good performances.”

Should Inter play with a three or four man defense?

“I think the starting with a back four is a good idea as they can change and adapt according to the needs of the matches.”
