During the presentation of Nigerian midfielder Joel Obi as a new player for Chievo Verona, the player himself decided to heap praise on some of the managers he had when playing for the Nerazzurri.
The player who came up the youth ranks with Inter spoke about his past stating that: “In my past I have have numerous great managers who have taught me a lot. One of the best was José Mourinho who promoted me to the first team, then I think of Rafael Benitez who gave me my first team debut. I have to thank them and Walter Mazzarri.”
The Nigerian international then concluded by stating that “I look to learn from every coach I have in order to improve.”
Excluding his stint with the Primavera squad Joel Obi spent 4 seasons with the Nerazzurri making 69 appearances across all competitions scoring twice in the process, one of which came against cross-town rivals AC Milan.
